Machining characteristic

Main application scope of graphite electrode

Advantages of graphite electrode compared with copper electrode
1. Lower material cost: the price of graphite with the same volume is only 1/2 of that of copper electrode.
2. Faster machining speed: the machining speed is 2-3 times that of copper electrode, and there is no burr after machining; The speed of EDM is 34% - 200% faster than that of copper electrode. 3. Less loss: spark oil decomposes carbide coating to compensate electrode loss.
4. Lighter weight: the density of graphite is only 1/5 of copper, so it is more suitable for discharge of large electrodes.
5. It is not easy to deform: compared with copper electrode, the melting point of graphite is up to 3650C, which will not deform under high temperature, and is more suitable for electrode processing.
6. Better processing effect: there is no burr after machining, which is easier to polish and eliminates auxiliary processes.
7. Bondability: Broken graphite electrodes can be bonded with adhesives to save time and material costs.
8. Higher efficiency: when high-speed machining is used for rough and medium machining, the efficiency is improved by 1-2 times.
